I have been busy working this winter season so not too much has been done to the boat for a while. But I have now started to take a sneaky day off now and then. I spent the last couple of Saturdays at the boat , welding lugs to the inside of the cabin to the fix battens too. I have also welded in a suspended floor in the boatmans cabin. I am now beginning to clean up the welds that were done just before the boat went on the water. There was no time then and I have only just got around to doing it. Then just a bit of red oxide to touch up the cleaned bits and I can get it insulated. I'm trying to get DIY insulation kits but without paying retail prices. Why is everything to do with boats so expensive? I bought a load of M12 and M10 bolts yesterday. I forgot to get M12 washers. I had a look in Screwfix catalogue and found them for £3.29 per 100. I make that 3.29p each - maybe allow 5p for a bit of profit. So what do my local chandlers charge - 14p each washer. I had intended to buy 10 or 20 of each but I'll wait till I can get them at a "fairtrade" price so I only bought 2!
