Its time I updated this page. I've been working on the fit out of the boat. I have put 12v lighting throughout using mostly LEDs. I think some of them are not bright enough so will upgrade some bulbs. I did put a run of very small LEDs along the side just below the gunnel, in the 'corridor'. these are just enough to light the way at night to the loo. 9 leds and they add up to about 3 watts total. I have also spent some time constructing a fold up bed. this will allow the room to be used for something else during the day but still give a full sized bed at night. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9qZNMTgyaT8
I have constructed the bulkhead between bed and bathrooms. I made this wall a double skin so that I could conceal the supplies to the shower valve inside and also inset the shower valve inside the wall. I have also made one door for the engine room end of the bedroom. Unfortunately this fouls the fold down bed when its folded down! DOH! One step forwards, two steps backwards. Julie suggested making it a bi-fold door and after studying the dimensions and taking regard of the construction of the door, I've decided thats probably the best way forwards.
I've also cut out the door for the other end of the bedroom but have to build a small return to the bathroom wall so the shower water doesn't soak the corridor.
My Canal Club have an Icicle cruise planned for the end of January, so I hope to be able to get some heating connected up before then. I have a solid fuel stove with a back burner. I have all the radiators fitted to the walls to connect as a gravity system. I also have a Kabola oil stove which I plan to fit into the back cabin using a pump to move the water, from the other end of the run of radiators. I will have to get the back cabin panelled out first so that I can get the Kabola connected. Not only that but I have a second-hand Alde 2928 heater which I also plan to connected into the system somehow. I will have to put valves into the system so that I can choose which system I want to use dependant on the fuel available and who is going to light whatever is used!
